2018 Tennis Champs Decided

The first four matches of the Old Eds tennis championships were held last Saturday. A big crowd arrived to watched some exciting finals finals from the terraces.

 The main event was the Men's Singles which was eventually won by Lloyd Segal, the club's no 1 ranked player, who beat Chad Brown, the defending champ and top ranked vets 40's in the country, in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Ladies Singles title was won by Michelle Ncube, the defending champ, who beat Isabella Venter, only 14 years old and up and coming junior, 6-3 and 6-4. 

In the Men's Handicap final, the evergreen Glen van der Watt defeated M. Moodley, 6-4, 0-6 and 6-4. 

In the Mixed DoublesMichelle Ncube and Lloyd Segal beat Collette Smith and Louis Pretorius, 6-3 and 6-4. 

Well played. to all the winners and runners-up, and thanks must go to the tournament director, Luigi Sollazzo, for organising the day so well!!

Next Saturday, the final four final, the men's doubles will be happening!!
