Our Premier league team hosted Jeppe on Sunday in a match that we hoped would see us close the gap on them at the top of the table. We asked Jeppe to bat first and with opening bowlers Damian Hutchinson (1/37) and Ross van Buuren (2/32) keeping their batsmen very modest. All the bowlers stuck to their task in restricting Jeppe to close to three runs per over. The pick of the bowlers was Brandon Buckley with 4/48 and although a little more expensive, took wickets at crucial times. Jeppe ended on 203/9. Our reply did not start well with Buckley adjudged leg before which started a flurry of batsmen putting on their pads as wickets tumbled at too regular an interval. Only three batsmen made double figures with Matt McGillivray (21), Jayden Broodryk (18) and Murray Workman unbeaten in 13. Jeppe applied pressure with good bowling and fielding and a constant buzz was heard around the field.  We were skittled for jut 86 in a match that was a lot closer than the score suggests. We are away to Glenvista this weekend where we will have to lick our wounds and restore some pride in ourselves and the badge.
