Our Premier league cricket team got off to the perfect start to the new season with a bonus point win over Lenasia. Both teams were promoted to Premier A and in last seasons fixture we lost by a mere 2 runs, but this year the story was completely different.

Having won the toss and decided to bat first our openers, Yaseen Valli (pictured) with 96 and Wes Landsdale (144) were magnificent is accessing the conditions and playing like true professionals. We reached 250 without loss in the 48th over  but some silly run outs in trying to reach 270 in the remaining two overs saw us finish on 263/5. After lunch Sean Jamison (3/33 in 5 overs) removed their openers for the home side to be 21/2 when the rain came and  we were off the field for some 90 minutes. The umpires calculated that lens needed 180 off 34 overs so we knew we had to bowl them out.

Constant pressure by the bowlers and some astute decision making by captain Murray Workman (3/12 off 4 overs) saw us bowl them out for 128 and we gained the magic bonus point. Hopefully we can keep this sort of momentum going into tomorrows game at home against Marks Park.
