The hockey section held their annual dinner and awards evening in the Family Room last Saturday. This was organized by the newly formed ladies section and each team was asked to dress in a different colour. The room was well decorated and there was a great party atmosphere.

The evening started off with the traditional prize giving whereby we recognized the players and teams which had excelled during the past season. These awards are chosen by the respective teams and the winners were as follows;

The winner of the infamous Fern Award was Dean Jacobs although it was hotly contested this season.

The Mens 4th Team - Player of the Year was Ryan Beukes. The Mens 3rd Team Player of the Year was Andrew Hodgkinson. The Mens 2nd Team Most Improved Player went to Sean Nixon whilst the Player of the Year shared between James Thomas and Malcolm Arguile.

The Ladies Team Most improved Player was Natalie Duligal with Catherine van Eyk and Gabriela Garcia sharing the Player of the Year award. The mens 1st team Most Improved Player was Ross Forbes whilst the Player of the Year was Frank Pretorius. The Young Player of the Year was named as Michael Newland-Nel.

As hockey is a team game the following should be acknowledged as to the achievements of the various teams.

The Mens 1st team finished 3rd and scored the most goals in premier league 79 in 18 games. The ladies finished 2nd in the league and scored the second most goals in the league, 76 in 18 games. The mens 2nd team also finished 2nd in the league scoring the most goals, 81 in 18 games. The mens 3rd team finished 8th whilst the mens 4th team finished 4th.
