After the disappointment of being relegated at the end of last season the Premier  cricket team bounced straight back to win the B division and thereby gained promotion back to the A division straight away. The team is now rightfully back where they belong.

It was a great team effort with good spirit shown throughout the season both at practice and in matches. Brendon Buckley was the new coach and he said that "the format suited us and the way we play plus as South African cricketers do not know how to play spin, we were able to field four spinners most weeks who were well backed up by our two seamers."

To prove this point it was Buckley himself who took the most wickets in the league finishing with 29 and the other spinner Scott Conway was 8th with 22 scalps. Seamer David Sator backed them up with 16 victims.

"Our seamers were able to contain most teams openers but on the rare occasions that the batsmen did get away from us, then the spinners did a great job in bringing the run rate down and us back into the game" Buckley said. "The batting was well led by Jaco Delport who scored 415 runs and Murray Workman with 406."

Looking ahead to next season and the new challenge of the A division, Buckley said that he was looking to bring in about five new players. "A couple of those will be youngsters and I am hoping to bring back to the club a couple of players who have now finished their studies at UJ. One advantage we have is that we can now offer A division cricket to any new players. That is always an advantage."

"I am nervous but excited more so than at the beginning of this past season. If we can get the five players that I have mentioned, then I am sure we will be able to compete for the title. UJ and Jeppe will be our main opposition but with the right team we can challenge them."
